Governor Ademola Adeleke has taken delivery of N1.2bn state of the art transmitters and digital equipment procured for the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC).

A statement by Hon. Kolapo Alimi, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment noted that the gesture is in line with an avowed commitment of Adeleke led administration to give the state owned media conglomerate comprising of Osbc Radio, Osbc Television, Orisun F.M Ile Ife and RRS, Iwo, the needed reach, professional standard and cohesion in the area of modern and efficient broadcast journalism.

The statement further reads “the administration is further poised to do everything morally and officially possible to restore the hitherto age old glory and professionalism associated with Osun State Broadcasting Corporation as a dominant mega broadcast outfit in the South-West.

“The equipment comprising two new transmitters and two studios for each of the three radio stations of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation in Osogbo, Ile Ife and Iwo is also in furtherance of Adeleke led administration’s commitment to give a sense of belonging across all the three senatorial districts of the state.

“With this new development, the first of its kind since the creation of Osun state over three decades ago, Adeleke led government, has also brought to a reality, the much sought desire to increase the height of the mast of the Iwo Reality Radiovision from 200 ft to 300 ft in order to ensure a wider reach of the Station beyond Osun and Oyo State.

“The problem of epileptic power supplies confronting the Osbc and hampering uninterrupted transmission will also become a thing of the past.

“Finally, it is the belief of His Excellency, Senator (Dr) Ademola Adeleke that, with this gesture and a promise to do more by his administration, the board, management, and staff of OSBC will justify the huge investment of government through better productivity and proper maintenance of the transmitters and studio equipment.

“The total cost of the equipment is 1.2billion, including the cost of pre-shipment inspection visit to Italy, training, insurance, renovation of the existing studio and transmitter halls, and installation as well as the mast for RRS, Iwo.”
