The newly sworn in Chairman of Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, Barr. Hashim Abioye and other members of the commission held their inaugural meeting today with a promise to hit the ground running in coming up with action plans to entrench democracy at the grassroot level in Osun State.
The meeting, according to the OSIEC Chairman, became necessary to fine tune plans to put in place appreciate structures that will help the operations of the Commission on one hand and also to familiarize himself and his team with members of staff of the commission.
Describing members of the newly constituted Commission as people of impeccable characters as well as capable of entrenching democratic values at the grassroot level, Barr. Abioye reassured the people of Osun State that his team is poise to carry out it’s constitutional function of delivering a credible and acceptable LG election in the state when the time is ripe for it.
While thanking members of Staff for their commitment to the Commission in times past, the OSIEC Chairman charged them to redouble their efforts for the challenge ahead which he described as very huge but surmountable.
He also promised the the welfare of staff will be priority on his agenda while the age-long gap between the careerist and the public servant will be bridged during his tenure as OSIEC Chairman.
Present at the inaugural meeting was the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Barr. Adedapo Adejumo, Barr. Niyi Abioye, Hon. Ayofe Folarin and Chief Olalere Sikiru. Other members in attendance include Barr. Wale Iyaniwura, Mrs. Olayinka Niniola and Pastor Olubunmi Ibiloye.
