Osun Speaker Reaffirms Commitment to State’s Healthcare Progress

The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, has reaffirmed the legislative body’s dedication to advancing healthcare in the state.

He gave the assurance on Thursday, while receiving the Osun Health Insurance Scheme team, led by its Executive Secretary, Dr. Rasaq Akindele to the House of Assembly.

The meeting focused on the progress made by OHIS in uplifting healthcare delivery in the state, as well as future plans to further enhance accessibility and affordability.

In his address, Speaker Egbedun expressed his delight in welcoming OHIS and commended the scheme’s efforts to improve healthcare services for citizens.

He also extended gratitude to Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke for his dedication to revitalizing healthcare, through rehabilitation of primary health care centres and particularly the enrollment of over 23,000 pensioners in OHIS.

Egbedun reaffirmed the 8th Osun State House of Assembly’s commitment to supporting transformative policies and actions that benefit the people of the dtate, emphasising the importance of reclaiming its forefront position in Nigeria.

He said: “The 8th Osun State House of Assembly remains committed to supporting transformative policies and actions that benefit the people of Osun State.”

“We will continue to support transformative policies that benefit the people of Osun State, towards ensuring our forefront position in Nigeria.”



Earlier in his remark, the Executive Secretary of OHIS, Dr. Rasaq Akindele, briefed the House on the steps taken to enhance healthcare delivery for enrollees and encouraged the enrollment of inhabitants from the informal sector.

In their respective remarks, Hon. Abiola Awoyeye, applauded OHIS for its accomplishments and proposed that legislators could contribute by enrolling a minimum of 100 constituents in each state constituency.

Hon. Adewunmi Adeyemi on his part, commended the management for their efforts, while emphasising the importance of enhancing the sensitisation process across the state to ensure broader awareness of the scheme.

Similarly, Hon. Taofiq Olayiwola praised the agency and advised the management to focus on expanding services to rural communities, ensuring that more citizens, especially those in underserved areas, can benefit from the programme.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to ongoing collaboration in advancing healthcare delivery and improving the well-being of the people of Osun State.
