A Magistrate Court sitting in Ilesa has arraigned two men, 53-year-old Muyiwa Ajagun and 52-year-old Olabusoye Onigbogi, on a three-count charge involving fraud, conspiracy, and stealing.
The case, listed under charge number MIL/188c/2024, is titled “Commissioner of Police versus Muyiwa Ajagun and Olabusoye Onigbogi.”
According to the charge sheet, the defendants are accused of unlawfully defrauding one Semiu Oyedele, a resident of Osun Ankara, Irojo, Ilesa, of five hundred thousand naira.
They allegedly did this under the pretense of selling a farmland to him at Odo Ijesa, an act which contravenes Section 419(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol II of Osun State, Nigeria, 2002.
In the second count, Ajagun and Onigbogi are accused of conspiring to cheat Oyedele by reselling the farmland, which had already been sold to him by Ajagun.
This act allegedly occurred in March 2024, in violation of Section 421 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol II of Osun State, Nigeria, 2002.
The third count states that the defendants unlawfully entered Semiu Oyewole’s cocoa farm at Odo Ijesa and stole cocoa seeds valued at three hundred thousand naira. This action is said to be in breach of Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol II of Osun State, Nigeria, 2002.
The prosecuting counsel, Barrister J.A. Adeyemi from the Osun State Ministry of Justice, who took over the case from Inspector Yusuf Taiwo of the Osun State Police Command, submitted all relevant documents pertaining to the land to Magistrate Mrs. Oladipo.
Following the examination of witnesses by the defendants’ lawyer, Barrister Femi Fafowora, Magistrate Oladipo adjourned the case to September 17, 2024, for continued hearing.
