…..Adeleke, Ede Elders Council, Afolabi Mourn
The Muslim community in Edeland and across Osun State has been thrown into mourning following the passing of Sheikh Alhaji Ibrahim Tijani Adekilekun, popularly known as Mallam Dende, who until his death served as the Chief Imam of Ansar-ud-Deen Society, Ede branch.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, in a condolence message on Sunday, described the late Imam as “a man of peace, humility, and unwavering devotion to the service of God and humanity.”
The Governor said Sheikh Adekilekun’s sermons and lifestyle left an indelible mark on generations of faithful.
“Sheikh Adekilekun was a spiritual guide, a teacher, and a leader whose exemplary character inspired many. He promoted tolerance, unity, and strengthened the moral fabric of our society,” Governor Adeleke said, while praying Allah to grant the cleric Al-Jannah Firdaus.
The Ede Elders Council also expressed sorrow over the Imam’s demise.
In a statement signed by its President, Alhaji Sulaimon Adebayo, Secretary, Alhaji Moshood Adeniyi, and Publicity Director, Chief Dr. Ayodele Adeyemo JP, the council recalled that Mallam Dende was not only a respected scholar but also a committed member of the council.
“Mallam Dende was a guiding light in religious matters whose humility, piety, and wisdom will remain indelible in the hearts of Ede people. His death leaves a huge void in our community,” the statement read.
Similarly, the Chairman of Ede South Local Government, Hon. Lukman Afolabi (Abere Soose), described the late Imam as a father figure whose leadership went beyond the pulpit.
He praised Sheikh Adekilekun’s commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence and moral uprightness.
“The late Imam was a shining light whose words calmed hearts and drew people closer to God. His legacy of faith, service, and integrity will forever be remembered,” Hon. Afolabi noted.
