Akinlalu Killings: No Sacred Cows In Investigations – Gov Adeleke Declares, Warns Against Shielding Suspects
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has applauded the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for the swift steps taken so far in investigating the recent killings in Akinlalu, Ife North Local Government Area of the state.
The governor, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, on Friday, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that justice is served in the matter.
He said no individual or group found culpable would be spared, regardless of their status or connections.
Governor Adeleke, who earlier ordered a full-scale probe into the tragic incident, said his government would give maximum cooperation and support to the police and other relevant agencies to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killings.
He vowed that his administration would not tolerate impunity or any form of lawlessness in the state as he commiserates with families of the victims.
According to him, “No one or group, no matter how highly placed or connected, found to be culpable in one way or the other should be spared from facing the full brunt of the law. There are no sacred cows in this matter. The law must take its course.”
The governor, however, urged security agencies to ensure that the investigation adheres strictly to due process and the rule of law, emphasizing that the innocent must be protected within the bounds of justice.
“Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done. I will not condone any violation of the law or act of indiscipline. The police, DSS, Amotekun, and other security agencies must work together to ensure peace and order while the investigation continues,” Adeleke added.
Governor Adeleke’s firm stance comes amid growing public concern over the Akinlalu incident, which has sparked calls for accountability and transparency in the state’s security operations.
