Osun APC Suffers Another Set Back as Leaders Defects to Accord During IMOLE Solidarity Walk

By Waliu Adetokun, Osogbo

The political atmosphere in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, witnessed a major development on Thursday as several prominent leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the ACCORD Party during the “Walk for IMOLE” rally held in support of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The development was contained in a statement signed by the Convener of Osun Grassroot Movement, Adetunji David.

The rally, organised by the Osun Grassroot Movement and coordinated by the Leader of Osogbo Local Government, Bobagunwa Teslim Igbalaye, attracted thousands of residents, party supporters, youths, women groups, artisans and community stakeholders who flooded major streets in the town in a show of solidarity with the Adeleke administration.

Speaking at the event, Igbalaye described the large turnout as a clear indication of the growing acceptance of Governor Adeleke’s leadership across Osun State.

According to him, “The people of Osogbo and Osun State have seen the difference in governance under Governor Ademola Adeleke. His administration has restored hope to the people and changed the political narrative in the state.”

He urged residents to continue supporting the governor, whom he described as “a peace-loving and performing leader committed to the development of Osun State.”

Igbalaye also took a swipe at the APC, claiming that the party had become “rotten beyond redemption,” a situation he said had forced many of its members and stakeholders to seek political direction elsewhere.

The rally also featured the formal reception of defectors from the APC and other opposition parties into the ACCORD Party in Osogbo Local Government.

Among political figures present at the event were Alhaji Muniru, Hon. Bamidele Lawal, Hon. Temilade Olokungboye, Hon. Azeez Badmus and Hon. Kayode Adesina, popularly known as Olododo, alongside other party stalwarts and grassroots mobilisers.
The Chairman of Osogbo Local Government, popularly known as Baba Isla, was commended by participants for his role in mobilising supporters and ensuring the success of the rally.

Also present at the event was the Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Moshood Olagunju, who joined the walk alongside youth stakeholders and Senior Special Assistants in support of the Adeleke-led administration.

Several youth and women groups at the rally passed a vote of confidence on Governor Adeleke, describing him as a symbol of peace, stability and responsive governance.

They also called for the continuation of his administration beyond 2026.

Stakeholders at the gathering maintained that the turnout and level of participation reflected the growing grassroots support for the governor and his administration across the state.
