Oyebamiji Has Failed to Present His Programme to Osun People- TICC

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has mocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its Governorship Candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, saying that the party is gradually accepting the reality of what it described as an impending rejection at the poll by Osun electorate on August 15, adding that the APC and its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, is haunted by what it described as a horrible past record of governance and recycled fail promises.
The council in a statement by its Spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi noted that elections are won and lost on the weight of the records of those aspiring for the votes, and evidently, adding that the APC and its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, does not possess any credible records in governance that could canvass support of the people.
The council maintained that with only a few days to the election, the AMBO campaign has literally abandon the idea of engaging the people and articulating his plans for the people, even though, they refresh memories of the sordid past.
The statement reads in part, “Osun is home to politically conscious electorate and requires those seeking to govern them to provide clear details on how to deliver for them. What we have however seen is an increasing pattern of avoiding public scrutiny of its campaign manifestos and practically making it impossible for the electorate to critique his suitability for the office he is seeking.
“Although, we are not surprised by this turn of event given the manner in which Bola Oyebamiji was imposed on his party as candidate, but we expect the APC to at least show some respect to Osun voters by subjecting its regurgitated ideas, policies to meaningful interaction with them rather than carry-on with arrogance.
“The AMBO campaign owes the people of Osun State a responsibility to explain its priorities and provide measurable commitments. The people of Osun State are interested in what Bola Oyebamiji will be offering differently compared to what Governor Adeleke is already delivering. They want to know whether Bola Oyebamiji regret his role in the maltreatment they suffered in the past and what he has in place to ensure such will never repeat itself. The people wants certainty that the current rounds of progress will be sustained not reversed through harsh policies and programmes.
“They also deserve assurances regarding security, investment promotion, environmental sustainability, social welfare, digital innovation, and inclusive governance. These are issues that cannot be adequately addressed through campaign slogans alone; they require detailed conversations with the electorate.
“While Bola Oyebamiji is evading public scrutiny of his programmes, Governor Ademola Adeleke is daily engaging the people, commissioning projects and reinforcing hopes of more deliveries for the future. Governor Adeleke has continued to justify the confidence reposed in him through verifiable deliveries and workable policies that has impacted lives positively.
“Governor Adeleke remains the candidate of choice for Osun people in the August 15 governorship election and this is basically because he has proven to the Osun people that government can actually works for them. In three years, every parts of Osun has felt the impact of good governance, relieving distressed workers and pensioners of their pains through better attitude to welfare and strategic investment in public infrastructure.
“Leadership is earned through proven history of performance, and by all indications, Bola Oyebamiji, has no standing with the people. Under his supervision of the Osun public purse as Commissioner of Finance, workers and pensioners were made to go through underserved pains while important projects that could improve the lives of citizenry were deliberately ignored for no just reason.
“The August 15 election is basically about moving Osun forward and from the preponderance of available facts, only Governor has shown capacity to make that happen. What we have seen with the AMBO campaign is throwing empty words and political rhetoric that failed to assuage the disappointment of the past and assurance that it is willing to correct its past misdeed.
“We have every confidence that Osun people will stick with a government that has delivered for them. Governor Adeleke has salvaged Osun from the abyss that the misgovernance that characterised the APC administration, of which Bola Oyebamiji, was a partaker led it to, and set it on the path of enviable progress and prosperity. This is the more why Osun people are firmly in support of Governor Adeleke and will resoundingly give him their votes at the poll.”
