In public office, there is what is called Oath of Secrecy. Its aim is to control the flow of information, in and outside the Government. Past administrations in Osun oftentimes hid under this public service principle to deprive their people accountability and transparency in governance.

However, in the case of Governor Adeleke, the reverse is the case. Since his inauguration on November 27th, 2022, he has consistently emphasized that he will run an all-inclusive and open administration. Even while inaugurating his cabinet members on 19th of July, 2023, he sent a strong warning to them on the need to be transparent and shun any act of corruption.

From the way Senator Adeleke started his administration, it shows he is neither in government for embezzlement nor misappropriation of public funds rather his actions so far demonstrate openness, transparency and accountability. The IPADE IMOLE recently held by His Excellency gave credence to the readiness of Adeleke’s administration for a sincere and honest Governance.

During the last administration of former Governor Oyetola, he had a similar program of giving stewardship to the people called ‘Apero’ but the program is mainly to update the good people of Osun on what his administration has done and is doing. Whereas Governor Adeleke is not only telling the people what he has done or what he is doing, but also welcoming suggestions in the areas of his administration’s weaknesses, disclosing public funds and how the money is spent.

In contrast, in the last administration, citizens were not even aware of the N600 Million of Oyetola’s Security Vote, not to talk of how he spent it, but Adeleke did not only disclose it but also sacrificed it for infrastructural project in the state. This is highly commendable.

Additionally, Governor Adeleke also used the medium to highlight how the N2billion palliative fund received from Federal Government would be spent on three projects and programmes namely; additional buses to ease transportation cost, rehabilitation of health centres and the purchase of food items.

Furthermore, at IPADE IMOLE, Governor Adeleke also disclosed the receipt of N7billion refund on capital project, recently received from Federal Government and how the money would be used for capital project. This openness by Governor Adeleke is not only praiseworthy but also applaudable. This is clearly unlike the last administration where citizens were kept in the darkness on how the commonwealth was spent.
Truly, IMOLE is here in Osun and Adeleke is the Symbol.
