A governorship hopeful in the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru has taken to his Facebook page to condemn APC members calling on the party to zone its ticket to Osun West Senatorial District.
Basiru who is keen on contesting in 2026 despite several calls within the party to zone its ticket to Osun West noted that people should be free to contest adding that if ticket is zoned to a particular region, the candidate still need the support of other zones.
Osun Spring Reports that several members and leaders of the party believed to be loyal to former Commissioner for Finance, Bola Oyebamiji who is also a governorship hopeful have all been calling for the party’s ticket to be zoned to Osun West.
“He said, “Zoning is not in our constitution. People should be free to contest. When you insist on zoning, aren’t you going to canvass votes in other zones whose aspirants you have denied? I’m not in support of zoning.”
