“I’m Committed to Peaceful Election”, says Governor Adeleke

‎The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has re-affirmed his administration’s commitment to peaceful election, protecting democratic values and guaranteeing an atmosphere in which every citizens can freely exercise their constitutional right to vote without intimidation or harassment.

‎The Governor made this remarks at the Osun election Peace and Security Summit organized by Kimpact Development Initiative through his representative Dr. Biyi Odunlade, the commissioner for Political Affairs and intergovernmental relations, declaring that his government acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the organiser and other democratic stakeholders to the promotion of peaceful political participation across the state.

He described their commitment as a demonstration of the collective responsibility required to strengthen democratic governance and deepen public confidence in the electoral process. The Governor established  that no political ambition is worth the blood of any citizen, stressing that his administration has consistently resisted every temptation to abuse the powers of office or employ unlawful measures against perceived political opponents.

‎According to Governor Adeleke, he emphasized that democracy flourishes when relevant stakeholders work together in the pursuit of the common good of the Citizens which the administration represents. He reiterated the continued support of the government to the security agencies in the discharge of their constitutional duties while fully respecting their professional independence. He encourages different stakeholders to continue to serve as a model of peaceful coexistence and credible electoral practice.

‎Governor Adeleke called on all political actors, their supporters and the general public to conduct themselves peacefully, respect the sanctity of the ballot and place the collective interest of Osun State above partisan considerations while encouraging Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to live up to the professional expectation. He emphasized that the enduring peace, unity and progress of the State must remain the shared responsibility of every stakeholder.
