OAU Honours Osun Commissioner Adeleke for Excellence in Education and Public Service

The Osun State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development, Prof. Morufu Ademola Adeleke, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, in recognition of his contributions to mathematics education, curriculum development, educational advancement, and public service.

The honour was conferred on Prof. Adeleke during activities marking the university’s 65th anniversary celebration, themed, “Honouring the Past, Engineering the Future.”

The event brought together eminent alumni, academics, government officials, and other distinguished personalities to celebrate the institution’s legacy and achievements over the past six decades.

A major highlight of the celebration was the anniversary lecture delivered on behalf of the Minister of Education by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Oyebode Adebowale.

In its citation, the university described Prof. Adeleke as “a distinguished academic, Professor of Mathematics Education, and astute public policy administrator” whose contributions have left a lasting impact on both the education sector and public administration.

The institution noted that as Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development in Osun State, Prof. Adeleke has been providing leadership in strategic economic planning, fiscal policy coordination, and sustainable development programmes.

According to the citation, Prof. Adeleke built an impressive academic career at Obafemi Awolowo University before joining public service, rising through the ranks to attain the position of Professor of Mathematics Education.

The university further acknowledged his scholarly contributions to curriculum studies and mathematics education, as well as his role in supervising numerous undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.

“Prof. Adeleke continues to promote evidence-based planning, educational transformation and sustainable development across academia and government,” the citation stated.

The anniversary celebration also featured the recognition of individuals with outstanding records in nation building and service to humanity.

Dignitaries, scholars, alumni and members of the public attended the event to commemorate the university’s Foundation Day and celebrate its 65 years of academic excellence and national impact.
