The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, has expressed the State Government’s willingness to partner with the private sector in exploring the potential of its tourism industry, declaring Osun as the home of some of the choicest tourist sites in Nigeria.
He made these assertions at an event hosted by Sterling Bank to commemorate World Tourism Day at the Tafawa Balawa Square in Lagos, on Saturday.
The Speaker highlighted the interventions of the State’s legislature under his leadership that will contribute significantly to the development of the tourism sector in Osun State. These include the sponsoring of two Private Member Bills, soon to be passed into law, and the review of the Osun State Council for Culture Law and the Centre for Black Culture & International Understanding (Amendment) Law, 2012, to bring them in line with the realities of the 21st century.
He also praised the enactment of the Centre for Black Culture & International Understanding (Amendment) Law, 2012, for its contribution to the rebranding of the tourism sector in Osun State.
“We will be conducting extensive oversight activities on the management of the state’s major tourist sites, as well as collaborating with the private sector to achieve desirable outcomes in the tourism and creative sectors in our state.
“I want to encourage the private sector to reach out to us so we can provide the relevant legal and institutional frameworks that would make it easier for the execution of their ideas and actions, as well as help them better understand the societies and communities they will be operating in”, Egbedun added
