The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Benjamin Adereti, has disagreed with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on the construction of flyover in Lagere, Ile-Ife by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Recall that the Ooni stated on Wednesday while receiving Governor Adeleke in his palace that the flyover and dualisation of the road is critical to the development of Ife while commending the governor for his commitment to the completion of the project.

The Ooni said, “Mr. Governor, you are positively touching the whole of Osun State.

“For us, we commend your infrastructure projects at Lagere. That point is the melting point of all local governments across Ifeland. From all corners of Ife, we have one thing or the other to do at Lagere.

“The road and the flyover are needed at Ile Ife. We appreciate your clear commitment to get the projects completed. We urge you to compel the contractor to speed up the construction process“, the royal father stated.

However, Adereti, in a statement by his media office countered the monarch while stating that the flyover is a misplaced priority and not a pressing infrastructural need.

The statement which was a followup to an initial comment by Adereti noted that the issue read, “Our attention has been drawn to recent commentaries attempting to misrepresent the position of our principal following his interview on the Lagere Flyover project in Ile-Ife.

“For the avoidance of doubt, our principal’s position has been consistent, objective, and rooted in the genuine needs of the people. His remarks were made during a public engagement, in which he clearly stated that the Lagere flyover bridge was a misplaced priority compared to Ile-Ife’s pressing infrastructural needs.

The monarch also hailed the governor for spreading development across the entire state.

“We have all seen that it is not Ede alone that is enjoying development. All towns and villages in our dear state are feeling your impacts. Under your leadership, Osun is looking good”, the monarch added.

However, Adereti in his statement also disagreed stating that only some areas benefit but Ile-Ife dualisation is only symbolic and not impactful.

He said, “While some areas benefit from road dualisation and targeted upgrades, Ile-Ife has been presented with a project many consider more symbolic than impactful”, he added.
