Adeleke Urges Muslims to Reflect on Sacrifice, Obedience, Love During Eid-el-Kabir Celebration

By Waliu Adetokun, Osogbo

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has felicitated with Muslims in Osun State and across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging citizens to reflect on the values of sacrifice, obedience, love, and compassion that the festival represents.

In a statement issued by his Spokesperson, the Governor described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred season that reminds humanity of total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), while also calling for renewed commitment to peace, unity, and kindness in society.

Governor Adeleke said the spiritual lessons of the festival align with the vision of his administration, which remains focused on service delivery, fairness, and the welfare of the people of Osun State.

He also called on residents to take advantage of the festive period to assess the performance and impact of his administration across key sectors, including infrastructure, health, education, workers’ welfare, and social development.

“As you drive through our towns and villages, check through our deliveries and services to our people. We are committed to serving you now and all the time,” the Governor said.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to people-oriented governance and sustainable development, adding that ongoing efforts are aimed at improving the living standards of citizens across all communities in the state.

Governor Adeleke assured residents of continued religious harmony, inclusiveness, and equal opportunities for all, regardless of religious or political affiliation.

He noted that Osun State has continued to experience stability and development because of the people’s commitment to unity and their rejection of divisive politics.

The Governor warned against attempts by individuals or groups to exploit religious or political sentiments to create disunity, stressing that such actions undermine peace and development.

He further urged Muslims to uphold the virtues of patience, tolerance, generosity, and sacrifice as taught by Prophet Ibrahim, noting that these values remain essential for a peaceful and prosperous society.

Governor Adeleke also encouraged residents to extend love and support to the less privileged during the celebration, emphasizing that compassion remains central to the message of Eid-el-Kabir.

“As we celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, I urge the people of Osun State to continue to pray for peace, unity, and progress in our dear state and nation. Let us also reflect on the journey so far and the visible impacts of good governance across our communities. Together, we will continue to build a better Osun for all,” he said.
