Osun APC Crisis Deepens as Resignations, Defections Increase

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has disclosed that the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State is grappling with a deepening internal crisis, following a wave of resignations, defections and growing dissatisfaction among its members.
In a statement issued on Monday and signed by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council said recent developments within the APC reflect a loss of confidence in the party’s leadership and its prospects ahead of future elections.
According to the council, the growing number of members leaving the party is evidence of widespread frustration among loyalists who have invested years of commitment, sacrifice and resources in building the APC.
“What is happening within the APC is no longer an isolated incident. It is a clear manifestation of a party suffering from internal collapse, loss of direction, leadership failure and a growing crisis of confidence among its members,” Olajengbesi said.
The statement claimed that many party members no longer have faith in the leadership of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and other key figures within the APC, arguing that the party has become associated with imposition, internal injustice and the marginalisation of dedicated members.
“People do not abandon a political party they have confidence in. They do not resign from a platform they believe is growing stronger. What we are witnessing today is a vote of no confidence in the direction, leadership and prospects of the Osun APC,” the statement added.
The council further alleged that individuals who laboured to build the party are increasingly disillusioned as political newcomers and opportunists assume control of party structures.
While criticising the APC, the council praised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, saying it continues to enjoy widespread support across the state due to what it described as visible achievements in governance.
According to the statement, ongoing infrastructure projects, improved workers’ welfare, pension reforms, healthcare interventions and people-oriented policies have strengthened public confidence in the Adeleke administration.
“The message coming from the grassroots is becoming louder by the day.
The people have moved on, and increasingly, many members of the APC are moving on too,” Olajengbesi stated.
