UNIOSUNTH CMD Describes Adeleke as Worker-Friendly Governor

The Chief Medical Director of the Osun State University Teaching Hospital (UNIOSUNTH), Osogbo, Dr. Babatunde Afolabi, has described Governor Ademola Adeleke as a worker-friendly governor whose administration has prioritised the welfare of workers across the state.

Afolabi made the remark while receiving the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, and the spokesperson to the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, during their visit to victims of recent gun attacks currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The CMD said the transformation witnessed at the hospital and the dedication of its workforce were products of the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare.

According to him, the regularisation of staff employed in 2012 and 2013, payment of pensions, prompt payment of salaries, regular promotions and proper placement of casual workers have greatly improved staff morale and productivity.

“The transformational development taking place in the hospital and the exceptional dedication of our staff are evidence of the support we have received from the state government.

The regularisation of staff, payment of pensions, prompt payment of salaries, promotions and proper placement of workers have motivated our personnel to give their best,” Afolabi said.

He thanked Governor Adeleke for the support given to the institution, noting that the administration’s interventions had strengthened the hospital’s capacity to deliver quality healthcare services.

Afolabi also disclosed that the gunshot victims admitted to the facility were responding positively to treatment.

“The victims are receiving adequate medical attention and are recuperating well,” he said.

Speaking during the visit, Alimi commended the hospital management, particularly the CMD, for his dedication and commitment to duty.

He assured the institution of the state’s continued support to enable it maintain high standards in healthcare delivery.

“The government will continue to support the hospital to ensure it remains one of the leading tertiary health institutions in the state and beyond,” the commissioner said.

Also speaking, Rasheed praised the management and staff of the hospital for their prompt response to emergency cases and the quality of care being provided to patients.

“We commend the management and staff for the professional manner in which they have handled the victims brought here, both recently and in the past,” he said.

Rasheed noted that the hospital had witnessed remarkable improvements in infrastructure, service delivery and staff commitment.

“The hospital now wears a new look, with improved healthcare delivery and a more dedicated workforce. These developments are commendable,” he added.

He explained that the visit was directed by Governor Adeleke to assess the condition of the victims and ensure that they were receiving adequate care.

“We were sent by Mr Governor to check on the welfare of the victims and ascertain their current state of health,” Rasheed said.
